Privacy policy
This page describes what happens to data when you use Plain PDF. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Your documents
Every tool on this site runs inside your browser. When you choose a PDF or an image, the file is read by the page you already have open, changed in your device’s memory and written back to your downloads folder. The file is never sent to this site, to us or to anyone else. There is no upload endpoint and no storage. We cannot see your documents, we cannot recover them, and there is nothing for us to delete.
This is a technical property of how the site is built, not a promise about our conduct. You can verify it: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab and use any tool on the site. No request carries your file.
What the site itself collects
Plain PDF has no accounts, no logins and no contact forms, so there is nothing for you to fill in and nothing for us to store. Our hosting provider processes the technical data every web server needs in order to answer a request, such as your IP address and the page you asked for, and uses it for delivery and abuse prevention.
Advertising and cookies
This site is free and is paid for by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense, which may set cookies or read device identifiers in order to show and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have agreed to them.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before any advertising cookie is set, through a consent banner certified by Google under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. You can refuse, and you can change your choice at any time from the link in that banner. Refusing means you see non-personalised ads; every tool keeps working either way.
Nothing about your documents is available to advertisers. The content of your files never reaches this site, so it cannot be shared, sold or used for targeting.
Third-party code
The PDF engines used by this site, pdf-lib and PDF.js, are open-source libraries served from this site’s own domain rather than from a third-party CDN, so using a tool does not reveal your visit to anyone else. The font is served from this domain as well. The advertising script is the only third-party code on the page.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to the processing of personal data about you, and to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. Because the tools hold no personal data, such a request can only concern advertising data, which is handled by Google as the party that collects it; Google’s privacy policy explains how to exercise your rights with them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the changed version replaces this one on this page. The core of it is not expected to change: there is no business model here that needs your documents.
